Can wearing a hat or hoodie every day cause eventual hair loss?

Wednesday, March 21st, 1973
asked:

I wear my hoodie (which is the hood of a sweatshirt or jacket) every day, about 5 hours of the day to keep extra warm. Do you think that doing this can cause eventual hair loss? That is, with time. You know, maybe in 20 years or so, I will start losing some hair since I wore a hoodie every day as a kid. I’m 19 and am a male.

Does wearing a hat eventually cause hair loss or thinning?

Monday, March 12th, 1973
Masyaina asked:

I have heard that if the head is not able to breathe, then the hair follicles become weaker and fall out. I heard hat wearing a hat prevents the scalp from breathing. Is this true? Assuming that the hat is not worn tightly, can it cause hair loss? Or is this simply a myth?
